Manila, Philippines – Malacanang said yesterday that the death of former Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) spokesman Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal will not have any impact on the peace process between the government and the CPP-New People’s Army (NPA)-National Democratic Front (NDF).
The Palace said there is no need to verify the death of Rosal. “CPP already mentioned so we will take their word for the death of Ka Roger Rosal, there is no need for us to verify,” presidential spokesman Edwin F. Lacierda said in a press briefing in Malacanang.
“We condole with the family of Ka Roger Rosal,” added Lacierda.
Also in the press briefing, Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Ronald Llamas, who came to meet the media straight from the airport from his trip to Switzerland because of the car incident involving two of his staff last Friday, also said that Ka Roger’s death will not affect the peace talks between the government and the CPP-NPA-NDF.
“As far as the peace process is concerned, wala naman masyadong epekto (there is not much effect),” Llamas said. (Madel R. Sabater)
