Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s LA Tenorio appears to be on track towards winning his second straight Best Player of the Conference award as he continues to lead the race this conference after finishing the elimination round with 33.3 Statistical Points.
The 5-foot-11 Tenorio, the BPC in the Commissioner’s Cup, averaged 15.1 points, 6.2 assists and a league-best 9.8 assists in 10 games, including the Kings’ 110-108 playoff win over Talk ’N Text where he collected 24 points and 10 assists to clinch the last quarterfinal spot in the Governors’ Cup.
As BPC winner last conference, Tenorio is an automatic contender in the MVP derby alongside Philippine Cup BPC Jayson Castro of Talk ’N Text. At the moment, leading the MVP race is Arwind Santos of Petron Blaze with 30.3 SP.
At second spot in the MVP race is Alaska rookie Calvin Abueva (28.5 SP), followed by Tenorio (28.2 SP), reigning MVP Mark Caguioa of Ginebra (27.6 SP) and Globalport’s Sol Mercado (27.2 SP).
Santos remained at second place in the BPC with 31.1 SP, averaging 13.2 and eight rebounds. Globalport’s Jay Washington moved up from No. 10 through six games this conference, to third overall with 29.4 SP.
Caguioa made it to the Top 10 as he finished the eliminations at No. 4 with 28.8 SP. Petron’s Alex Cabagnot also moved up to fifth from sixth with 28.2 SP. Meralco rookie Cliff Hodge is at No. 6 (28.1 SP), followed by fellow rookie June Mar Fajardo of Petron (27.9 SP), Nino Canaleta of Air21 (27.0 SP), Meralco’s Reynel Hugnatan (26.9 SP) and Paul Lee of Rain or Shine (26.6 SP).
For the Bobby Parks Best Import trophy, Barako Bull reinforcement Mike Singletary is at No. 1 with 55.1 SP, while next to him is Marcus Blakely of San Mig Coffee 53.4 SP.
At third is Petron’s Elijah Millsap with 51.3 SP, followed by Rain or Shine’s Arizona Reid (51.2 SP), Alaska’s Wendell McKines (50.4 SP), Ginebra’s Dior Lowhorn (46.5 SP), Markeith Cummings of Globalport (46.1 SP) and Meralco’s Mario West (42.4 SP).
