A beast in a small box

Braven 440

As the number of Bluetooth speakers increase, so does the difficulty in choosing one. Braven, a known name when it comes to portable wireless audio devices, gave us a chance to try out their new toy, called the Braven 440.

The speaker radiates the word minimalist when it comes to design. The bright color of the brick-like gadget may garner some looks once out in the open. The topside of the device is where the main controls are located. The rear is covered with a removable panel that reveals power controls and input slots.

The overall design is good and simple, but the back panel may prove to irritate some as it is easy to lose especially during “charge while party” times.

In terms of functionality, be it wired or wireless, the Braven 440 gives off serious tunes. Simply connect your phone or mobile audio device via Bluetooth and you’re good to go.

The device’s audio controls also help in gaining the additional volume. Aside from being a speaker, the 440 also doubles as a mic. This feature proved to be useful in conversations with multiple participants, namely inside cars.

What surprised us is the device’s capability to bring out the bass. Even with low bass music, the Braven 440 still delivers. However, speakers involuntarily move when playing intense bass and max volume.

With the proven sound quality, the Braven also boasts itself in terms of durability. It may be due to the overall form, but the Braven 440 can take a couple of drops. It is also resistant to water. But do take note that resistant does not mean that it can be submerged.

The Braven 440’s battery life lasts for up to 12 hours. If you’re not in the mood to play music, you can use it to charge your mobile devices via the USB port. LED indicators at the backside help in determining the charge level of the speakers.

Overall, the Braven 440 is one of the best mobile speakers out there. The presentation and build quality is robust and the sound is commendable.

The charging feature is extremely useful especially during trips. The Braven 440 is a mic, a charging station, and a mobile speaker, all rolled up into one package. You can even play it beside a swimming pool. Oh, and the price is reasonably good to!
