7 p.m. – Talk ’N Text vs Globalport

Purefoods gun for its second straight win today against Blackwater in the resumption of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After dropping three of their first four matches, the Hotshots finally showed the form that won them the Grand Slam last season, trampling North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), 92-76. They shot 53 percent from the field against NLEX.

Purefoods plays Blackwater at 4:15 p.m., before the 7 p.m. collision between Talk ’N Text (4-2) and Globalport (3-3).

The Tropang Texters are on a three-game win streak while the Batang Pier are looking to rebound from a painful 86-83 loss to Rain or Shine last Wednesday.

“It was last season, our focus now is this season. The key for us is we have to stay hungry in winning the title,” said Cone.

Cone hopes to get the same production from Peter June Simon, James Yap and Joe Devance who combined for 58 points against NLEX.

Although the Elite are still winless, Cone said it doesn’t define what kind of squad the Elite, fully aware that they are capable to compete against the top teams in the PBA.

In its last outing, Blackwater lost to Alaska, 69-56.

Blackwater (0-6) is the only team without a victory.

Barako Bull finally had its first victory after beating expansion team Kia, 87-71.

Kia got its first and so far only win with a come-from-behind triumph over Blackwater on opening day last Oct. 19 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
