PBA D-League team CafeFrance announced that they are partnering with longtime sports outfitter Freego for the duration of the ongoing Aspirants’ Cup and the upcoming Foundation Cup where they will be defending their title.
Freego is currently supporting Rain or Shine in the PBA and previously had a partnership with Hapee, the team which the Bakers outlasted for the title last conference.
“It’s a big thing for the team. Morale boosters for the players kasi it means na lumalaki na talaga ang team ng CafeFrance,” said head coach Aegay Macaraya in the press conference held yesterday at CafeFrance Jupiter.
For Freego sports marketing head Edster Sy, he would not have had it any other way.
“When we found out that Hapee isn’t joining in the tournament, we initially held a meeting with coach Jun (Tiongco) about a possible partnership,” said Sy.
“They will be our brand ambassadors. They will be carrying the name of CafeFrance and Freego in their jerseys and we’re hopeful that this will be a fruitful partnership,” he added.
So far, the Bakers remain as one of the teams to watch in the tournament as they have won their first two games of the season.
Led by Centro Escolar University stars in Rod Ebondo and Joseph Manlangit and other D-League veterans like Paul Zamar, the Bakers have won their games against Mindanao and BDO-National University with an average of 24 points.
