Given its zero tolerance for corruption, Malacañang has called on the public to report to proper authorities any corruption practices of government officials in the wake of alleged irregular transactions in the State-owned gaming agency.
Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said citizens are encouraged “to participate actively in ensuring accountability of public officials.”
“If they are aware of improper or illegal acts committed by public officials, and have the necessary proof, they can bring these matters to the attention of the Office of the Ombudsman for proper assessment,” Coloma said.
“Under our existing laws, the Ombudsman is empowered to prosecute cases of graft and corruption against senior government officials,” he added.
Coloma maintained that “public office is a public trust and public officials are accountable for their actions.”
Newspaper columnist Jarius Bondoc recently bared the alleged anomalous collection of nearly P1 billion by a certain “Alan La Madrid Purisima” from casino earnings intended for sports development.
