Police are hunting down a 15-year-old boy who stabbed dead a Taiwanese businessman and critically wounded his wife inside the couple’s house in Nueva Ecija Saturday.
Police said Pai Chi Fu, 60, was knifed dead by the boy (name withheld for being a minor), while he was rescuing his wife, Erlinda Cheng, 58, from the suspect’s attacks, according to a Police Regional Office 3 report.
PO1 Reynante A. Menia, investigator on case, said Mrs. Cheng went to the bathroom as soon as the couple arrived in their house at Sitio Tingga, Barangay Macapsing, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, around 1 p.m. Saturday.
Inside the bathroom, she found the boy who suddenly stabbed her repeatedly.
Hearing the commotion, Mr. Fu rushed to rescue his wife but was also stabbed in the chest by the suspect.
The couple’s house helper – Anthony Morano dela Peña, 19, who was outside the house – rushed inside upon hearing the shouts of the victims.
Dela Peña was surprised upon seeing the couple lying bloodied on the floor.
He immediately brought the couple to Bongabon District Hospital, but Mr. Fu was declared dead on arrival while his wife was transferred to Wesleyan Hospital in Cabanatuan City for further treatment.
The boy fled with the weapon he used in attacking the victims.
Police have launched a manhunt against the suspect.
“Considered solved na ang kaso kasi na-identify na natin ang suspect, pero ‘yung motibo inaalam pa natin. Sa ngayon di pa natin masasabi kung robbery ba ito kasi wala pa namang reported na nawala, o may galit o away pamilya ba o ano pa man,’’ said Menia.
The investigator said they were trying to convince the family of the boy to surrender him. (Franco G. Regala)
