GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – One of two suspected drug pushers was killed on Saturday night in a shootout with a police team after a buy-bust operation at Belmont Hills Subdivision in Barangay Pasong Kawayan II here.
Crisanto Impas Alcantara, 42, a construction worker, was declared dead on arrival at M.V. Santiago Hospital. He suffered a bullet wound in the left chest.
His companion – Freddie Lobusta Bernardino, 38, also a construction worker – was nabbed by the team after the shooting.
PO2 Christian Nel Cuevas, case investigator, said police found at the scene a .38-caliber revolver with a shell and four bullets in its cylinder, eight sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing about 10 grams and valued at P15,000; one P500 bill and nine P20 bills, a sachet with shabu” residue and a pair of scissor.
The operation was conducted by the General Trias Police Intelligence-Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group at past 7 p.m. Saturday. Both Alcantara and Bernardino live at Belmont Hills Subdivision.
Cuevas reported that Alcantara drew a gun and fired when he was alerted by Bernardino about the lawmen’s presence shortly after he (Alcantara) handed a sachet of suspected “shabu” containing 0.12 gram to a poseur buyer.
The shooting prompted a team member to fire back at Alcantara once with the bullet hitting his chest.
