5 drug suspects die in Bohol shootout

INABANGA, Bohol – Another suspected drug lord and four of his members were killed in a shootout in Barangay Cawayan, Inabanga, Bohol, Sunday morning.

Superintendent George Ylanan, the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) chief, said alleged drug group leader David Mellomida Anunciado and members Anunciado, Leonides Inoc, Alipio Anuta, Milkins Ohina, and Pio Justol, were killed after they shot it out with police operatives.

RSOG personnel, officers from the Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Public Safety Batallion 7 and Inabangan Police Station, who took part in the raid, also arrested Rene Peticio, Daria Nuñes, and Justino Vistal.

During the operation, policemen tried to conceal themselves by riding a dump truck to Anunciado’s house, but Justol allegedly noticed them and fired a shot before running towards his house where Anunciado and the rest of the group were.

Justol’s house was allegedly being used as a drug den by the group.

Police said they seized several firearms, live hand grenades and nearly P3 million worth of shabu from the suspects.

Cash amounting to P67,083 and US$116 (about P5,392) were also found.

Anunciado, whom police described as a level one drug pusher, also allegedly led a robbery and private armed group that operated mostly in northern Bohol.

The operation took place after a suspected Cebu-based drug lord was also killed in an operation in Banacon Island, Getafe town in Bohol.

Incoming Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has dangled a P50,000 reward for policemen who can kill a suspected drug trader. (MARS W. MOSQUEDA JR.)
