Continuing battle with the bulge

Sharon Cuneta

FIFTY POUNDS LESS – Sharon Cuneta is surely winning the bulge. Last heard, the Megastar has shed all of 50 pounds. A few more pounds less and she’s ready to face the movie camera.

Must have been a big sacrifice as Sharon loves to eat… and is big-boned. As they say, “tabain.”

Who’ll be her next leading man? Gabby Concepcion, Boyet de Leon, Albert Martinez, Edu Manzano, Aga Muhlach? Oh, but has Aga lost weight? Lea Salonga advised him to do so, if they are to partner again.

OVERWEIGHT – Others ought to follow in Sharon’s footsteps. That is win the battle with the bulge.

As they come to mind: Nora Aunor, Elizabeth Oropesa, Jaclyn Jose. But then they are such fine actresses that onscreen viewers forget the excess pounds and remember the great acting.

Same can be said of Cherry Pie Picache. How about Alma Moreno? As one writer puts it, “Sobrang taba pero to be fair, maganda pa rin.”

Think of Alma in the ’80s. She was really a goddess of beauty.

MORE AND MORE – Aiko Melendez is another heavyweight, although slowly losing some pounds. But as they say, “Maganda pa rin, a blending of Spanish and Japanese features.”

Also overweight are Liza Lorena, Ricky Davao, Marissa Delgado, Martin Nievera, Bing Loyzaga, Ana Marie Gutierrez (based in New York), Jed Madela.

Speaking of Jed, he’s so right in ignoring those who question his sexuality, fired up when he sang hits associated with women like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and other belters. Detractors say Jed is “more coloratura than tenor.”

John Lloyd Cruz has a tendency to get fat. Ditto Joel Torre, Baron Geisler, William Martinez.

But must say that Vilma Santos remains slim.
