Quezon village dad slain

UNISAN, Quezon – A village councilman tagged as this town’s No. 2 drug personality was gunned down by a masked man while playing a card game during Saturday night in Barangay Maputat here.

Police said the victim, Edison Fernando Leopoldo, 37, sustained bullet wounds in the head, back and arm, and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

A bystander identified as Domer V. Parco, 38, of Barangay Mabini, was hit with a bullet in the thigh as the suspect indiscriminately fired his gun as he walked away from the scene.

Witnesses said the gunman was wearing a face mask, a blue jacket with hood, and a pair of maong pants.

Police said the victim was playing a card game near a basketball court during the town fiesta at about 9:30 p.m. when the suspect armed with a .9mm pistol came from behind and repeatedly shot him.

Probers said they were looking into possibility that the killing was related to the victim’s involvement in illegal drug trade. (Danny J. Estacio)
