ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez and basketball star Keifer Ravena of the Mighty Sports Cavaliers (Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League) have graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City last weekend.
Sanchez, 51, earned her master’s degree in journalism from the prestigious university last June 26. She attended in style as she marched in her royal blue toga and sneakers to accept her diploma.
“Sa wakas nakasuot na rin ng costume,” Sanchez said on Instagram before the ceremonies.
After the graduation, she posed with her husband Mar Roxas II who witnessed the event.
“Thanks to my husband Mar who I share every joyful moment with making every such moment complete!” Sanchez said on IG.
Roxas, who was ranked No. 2 in the May 9 presidential elections, also congratulated his wife for her achievement.
“With the bagong gradweyt! She finished her Masters in Journalism!” said Roxas on Twitter.
“Congrats to Korina and all the other graduates.AMDG. One Big Fight!” said Roxas in another tweet.
“Such a sight to see: Graduates marching in to the familiar tah-tatatata-tah tune, So proud, serious & confident.
Parents (& husbands) so proud. Congratulations K!” said Roxas, who is also busy these days taking up advanced scuba class in Anilao, Batangas.
At the reception, Sanchez paid tribute to some important people who were part of her success as a student by posing with them. She asked them, including her yaya, to wear her graduation cap.
“Thanks to our forever yaya of 45 years Nanay Fe Mazo, who has outlived both our parents are on and Celia Sanchez, and is still with us,” Sanchez posted on IG.
Roxas, 59, attended Ateneo in grade school and high school. He went to college at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Roxas and Sanchez got married in 2009.
Kiefer Ravena
Ravena, 22, finished his Communications Technology Management course at the same university last June 25.
His girlfriend volleyball star Alyssa Valdez gave him a sweet congratulatory message on Instagram, as reported on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN..
“Kiefer Isaac C. I never thought I would be in this situation but more than that, not everyone believed that you could march today! “All the cutting, naps and eating in class finally came to an end;
“Congratulations! Jk. So proud of this guy! You’ve been through a lot for the past 5 years and you deserve the best reward! And that is to finally march and get an Ateneo diploma. You’re simply amazing, Kiefer Ravena. Achievement unlocked! Onto the next goal and dream. #DownFromTheHill” said Valdez.
