Don’t lose hope

Do you feel that it’s already the end of the world? Do you feel that you are in a dead end? Have you run out of tears already and you feel like you have no more tears to cry? Do you find yourself wanting to end your life just so you can end it all?

We’ve all heard the saying, “Where there’s life there’s hope.”

This isn’t just a saying. And this isn’t just a line that we tell people who are running out of hope. I do believe that this is a truth that has stood the test of time.

And this is exactly why we shouldn’t lose hope. For as long as we are breathing, and for as long as our hearts are still beating, there is still hope.

Maybe you are thinking that this is all easier said than done, especially if you are right in the middle of a very difficult and challenging situation.

So what are the things that we can do whenever we are feeling hopeless? Here are some of the things that we can do:

LOOK AROUND
Look around you. Observe the people and things around you. When you do this, you will surely realize that you are not the only one going through something. You are not the only one experiencing trials. You are not the only one with testings and challenges. In other words, you are not alone.

There is someone who has experienced, who is experiencing, and who will also experience whatever it is that you are currently going through. If you will look at it, other people are in a more difficult situation, but they are still fighting. If you really look closely, you will see that you are even more blessed than others.

Maybe you and your spouse just had an argument and already you want to call it quits. But other people have lost their spouse in an accident or to a disease. Maybe you’re feeling hopeless because you failed an exam. But other people can’t even afford to go to school.

Maybe you weren’t able to eat your favorite snack and already you feel depressed. But other people haven’t even eaten for several days now and they still have what it takes to keep going.

The key here is not to compare your situation with others but to be grateful and thankful. Always look at the brighter side of life. No matter how bad things are, there is always some good in something.

So look around. All of us are going through something. If other people have managed to surpass their trials and achieve victory in their life’s battles, so can you.

LOOK FOR A SUPPORT GROUP
Whenever you’re feeling down and hopeless, don’t isolate yourself. Don’t go on an “emo trip,” and tell people that you want to be alone. People who are always alone aren’t always able to handle bursts of strong emotions, that they commit suicide. If you have a support group that can help you, guide you, embrace you, encourage you, listen to you, entertain you, give you counsel and advice, pray for you, go to Jollibee with you, treat you to a foot spa, and fish ball, and many other things, surely you will feel lighter. Surely you will feel hopeful. Surely you will feel alive.

Everybody needs somebody. Don’t isolate yourself and shut people out of your life.

LOOK UP
This is the most important of all. If you put your trust in God and you place your hope in Him, you will never regret it, and you will not be put to shame. He won’t let you down.

It’s very clear in the Bible: “I am the LORD, those who hope in me will not be disappointed.” – Isaiah 49:23
People may disappoint us or even give us false hopes, but GOD will never disappoint us.

Before I close this blog, may this verse from the Bible, which is His Word, encourage you and give you hope. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY
Have you ever lost hope? Do you have a support group?

Have you tried “looking up”? (Chinkee Tan)
