The Bureau of Immigration (BI) became the first civilian government agency after the Philippine National Police and Philippine Army to conduct a drug test on its employees and all of them tested negative.
According to the PNP crime laboratory, all 117 BI employees, including Commissioner Jaime Morente, who underwent the drug test last Thursday were found negative of any drug traces.
Those who were tested were from the bureau’s intelligence division, fugitive search unit, and all of the division heads and section chiefs.
In a statement, Morente said “we must have the moral ascendancy in our fight against illegal drugs.”adding that it was just the start of series of surprise drug test to be conducted on BI employees. (Jun Ramirez)
