• The FIBA OQT over, Gilas players return to their PBA ballclubs.

Will Star finally shine this time?

That will be known on Friday as the Star Hotshots battle Mahindra in the featured match of the opening day in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Hotshots failed to get past the quarters in the first two conferences, raising doubts on the capability of two-time MVP James Yap and Gilas forward Marc Pingris to lead their team to another championship.

Star completed a Grand Slam in 2014, but had no success since then.

Aside from Yap, also expected to lead the Hotshots is comebacking import Marqus Blakely.

Star and Mahindra clash at 7 p.m. following the 4:15 duel of Meralco and Phoenix.

Commissioner’s Cup champion Rain or Shine will play on July 20, while Philippine Cup titlist and defending champion San Miguel Beer sees action the following day.
