PCSupt Elmer C. Beltejar, PRO8 acting regional director, told reporters in an interview at his office that PRO-8 relentlessly implements PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign Plan, Project Double Barrel, with two approaches: Project “Tokhang” and Project “High Value Target” (HVT).

PCSupt Beltejar informed reporters that the present campaign against drug of his office has resulted to the voluntary surrender of 6,011 users and 858 pushers in the entire Eastern Visayas from July 1-10, 2016 as the spate of the all-out- war against illegal drugs continues.

Beltejar said that from July 1 thousands of drug users and drug pushers submitted themselves to police stations and to their local mayors and pledged to abandon their illegal drugs activities after signing an affidavit of undertaking duly subscribed and sworn to before a notary public.

“They were not detained but we will closely monitor them. We anticipate more to surrender in the coming days and I encourage our public to continue supporting our fight against illegal drugs. Expect continuous anti-drug operations to be launched by your police, hindi kami titigil hanggat hindi nasusugpo ang illegal na droga sa buong rehiyon,” he said.

Beltejar commends the operating troops and his men in the field and said that PRO-8 will continue its unwavering efforts to eradicate illegal drugs within the region as “Double Barrel” is being widely implemented in the country. (Restituto Cayubit)
