WHY do some people just flare up at the slightest provocation, take a hostage, or climb a billboard?
They take so much pressure and say they’re okay. Many of them do not have any outlet for unexpressed hurts, anger, and disappointments. They go through life carrying not just yesterday’s burdens, but also last year’s – or last decade’s baggage.
They attend to their day-to-day activities in a usual manner, then with repeated exposure to irritants and stressors of various kinds, one day they just explode.
I’m sure you don’t want any of these things to happen to you or to the people you care about.
Find a positive outlet for your emotions. If you’re hurt, express it. If you feel betrayed, admit it – then move on!
Release those negative feelings at once. If you don’t, they will poison your spirits without you being aware of it.
You might just wake up one day not believing in anything or anybody anymore – lonely and bitter… and perhaps not even aware of it!
Some people are quick to take advantage of other people’s loneliness and bitterness for their selfish gain. They introduce prohibited drugs and harmful ideas. They even lure these lonely and bitter individuals into toxic relationships.
Others are quick to spot the anger or hatred in their eyes and feed this anger in preparation for attempts to sow violence. As they say, anger is just “one letter away from danger.” Everybody really has to guard his/her heart and mind.
Yes, it’s normal to feel sad and to get angry, but learn to manage your emotions before they get the better of you.
Never allow them to crowd out “the lamp of reason and good judgment.”
People don’t just flare up at the slightest provocation, take a hostage, or climb a billboard without any reason. They suffered in silence, and for so long, they thought they could manage.
Guard your heart and mind. Never allow negative feelings and thoughts to gather enough force that will hurt you and the people around you.
“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.” (Philippians 4:8b) (Marilyn C. Arayata)
