CATARMAN, Northern Samar – A wild vine that thrives in the hinterland barangays of Palapag, Northern Samar is being eyed as a source of bio fuel.
Palapag mayor Ricardo Daiz said that the vine locally known as “Dulce de corombot” has been known to be highly flammable despite its sweet fruit and can only be found in their town.
Daiz revealed that a Korean firm once made a proposal to make a mass production of the product which will then be exported abroad.
Daiz said he plans to introduce the potentials of the plant to the government through agriculture secretary Manny Piñol.
The town mayor said their place could play an important role in Pinol’s plans of making their region as the country’s food basket.
Palapag, which is set to commemorate its 421st fiesta, is strategically located in the southern part of Northern Samar and is facing the Pacific Ocean. (Nestor L. Abrematea)
There were proposals before to turn the Bagacay dam of that town, into a hydro electric power source which was turned down by the administration of former mayor Daiz, Now he talking of the corambot? He is also the one who run away with the funds of the town’s water supply project. The town has no clean drinking water up to now.
Yes is no longer the mayor, he is a former mayor who lost twice already because people there know what he is.
