Marijuana remains a problem up North

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Despite of the effort of the police in eradicating marijuana plants, officials and concerned agencies are faced with a gargantuan task in curbing the proliferation of marijuana in the province.

This was the sentiment during the meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council, the Philippine National Police; Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, local officials and stakeholders held at Benguet capitol.

League of Municipalities President Mankayan Mayor Materno Luspian, raised the issue on the eradication conducted yearly yet marijuana plantations still proliferate.

PDEA Regional Director Juvenal Blanquera Azurin informed that while they do monthly monitoring particularly in Kibungan and Bakun, political will of barangay officials is needed to help in convincing those who are engaged in marijuana plantation to stop their trade as it has great impact to people’s lives once they are addicted to the prohibited drug.
