Actress Jessy Mendiola has said that there’s no war going on between her and actress Angel Locsin as what others perceived.
“We’re silent but there’s no war. I don’t think it’s like that. Parang masyadong pinapalaki ang bagay na yan. Sana wag ganun. Bakit hindi na lang natin purihin na walang panlalait? Kumbaga wag na lang tayo manakit ng iba para lang ma-appease yung isa,” said Mendiola, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN.
The issue started when Mendiola was romantically linked to actor-television host Lucky Manzano who then had just broken up with Locsin.
Mendiola and Locsin have made separate statements about the issue.
Locsin has admitted that she has not moved on with Manzano. Mendiola said that she was hurt with the “ahas” tag by bashers.
Fans also said that Mendiola caused the split of Manzano and Locsin.
Manzano defended Mendiola and said she was not the cause of his breakup with Locsin.
Also, Mendiola thanked reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who congratulated her despite being bashed by netizens following a joke involving the beauty queen.
“Para sa akin, at that moment, nag-joke ako na para bang talo ko pa si Pia sa trato sa akin ngayon. What I meant was yung context na grabe or overwhelming feeling. It was taken out of context,” Mendiola said, who was named sexiest Filipina for 2016 based on online poll conducted by FHM Philippines magazine.
Wurtzbach, who was ranked No. 15 in the same survey, has already tweeted about the issue on a positive note.
The beauty queen said: “What I saw was a girl who was really ecstatic to be given that recognition. Nothing wrong with that! Congratulations, Jessy!”
“I asked some of my friends na friends din nya to express my gratitude. Ang sweet nga nya to tweet that kasi kung sya nga nakita nyang joke yun bakit other people won’t take that as a joke,” Mendiola said.
Commenting on the issue, Abunda expressed support to Mendiola for reacting on the issue and not being silent about it.
“Yes, dapat sumagot si Jessy Mendiola. It’s not Jessy Mendiola if she’s quiet. She explains very well, context ang pinagusapan,” Abunda said.
“Yung Pia, parang sinabi lang nya sa atin ang ganda naman ng trato nyo sa akin para naman akong prinsesa. Para naman akong reyna. And thank you Pia for forgetting it,” the multi-awarded broadcast journalist said.
