ILOILO CITY – Nakatakdang itayo ang dalawang evacuation centers ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-6) sa Western Visayas na nagkakahalaga ng P49.6 million.
Ayon kay DPWH-6 regional director Engr. Wenceslao Leaño Jr., ito ang kanilang kontribusyon upang maging mas lalong handa ang residente ng naturang rehiyon pagdating sa mga sakuna.
Kasalukuyang nakikipag-usap ang DPWH-6 sa mga member agencies ng Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC-6) upang matukoy ang posibleng pagtayuan ng mga centers.
Isa naman sa posibleng pagtayuan ay ang Roxas Elementary School sa Tapaz town, Capiz province na madalas na maging evacuation center sa huling limang taon.
Ang mga disaster-resilient centers ay magkakaroon ng sleeping rooms, toilet, bath, kitchen, dining area, storage rooms at magiging pabor din sa mga persons with disabilities (PWDs). (Tara Yap)
