Del Monte boom truck torched

Three suspected New People’s Army rebels burned a P6-million boom sprayer truck owned by Del Monte Philippines Inc. in Field 87 Pineapple Plantation, Zone 3, Barangay Impalutao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, Thursday.

Initial police investigation revealed that the driver of the boom sprayer truck was driving around the plantation when the armed men stopped him. He was ordered to alight from the vehicle and the suspects poured gasoline around his truck.

The driver ran away and informed his co-workers about the incident. They returned to the area and saw the truck on fire.

Col. Jesse Alvarez, commander of Army 403rd Infantry “Peacemaker” Brigade, said that they and the police are still identifying the suspects and the motive behind the incident. (Camcer O. Imam and Francis T. Wakefield)
