Government workers might want to focus on work and avoid corrupt practices since President Duterte will soon be watching their every move.
The President is planning the installation of closed circuit cameras in all government agencies to monitor activities of workers and curb corruption.
Duterte assured that the proposed Gestapo-like surveillance in the bureaucracy would not violate any privacy rights since it covers the work of the public sector.
“When I said that corruption will stop. It will stop. Maniwala kayo. To all government (employees), ‘wag ninyo akong hiyain dito. Kakasahan ko talaga kayo,” he said in a media interview in Davao City last Saturday.
“I will place cameras there, like a Gestapo, and it’s perfectly all right for me. Why? This is government. This is not a private enterprise. There is no such thing as a violation of privacy there. It’s only when you enter the comfort room that maybe there’s that limitation,” he said. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
