DINGDONG TURNS ACTION STAR: What’s the next best way to reinvent one’s career? What’s that so-called next level?

Among women, it’s transitioning from wholesome, romantic roles to adult, sexy parts.

For the men, it’s going action.

Such is the case with Dingdong Dantes, who bravely embraces the action-drama genre with his new TV starrer, “Alyas Robin Hood”.

Beginning September19, the veteran actor can be seen in a new light as a nightly crime-busting sort of super hero with only a bow and arrow as his line of defense.

EVERYDAY HERO: Says GMA: The series showcases an inspiring truth that in each one of us is a hero, able to serve other people.

According to director Dominic Zapata, “Alyas Robin Hood” combines elements of action, drama, and comedy.

The story revolves around Pepe de Jesus (Dingdong), who finds his calling in public service his own private way. An urban poor crusader, he secretly helps the oppressed as he slowly finds out the truth behind the mysterious killing of his father.

Zapata threatened to make Dingdong the new action star on the primetime block. Abangan!

“Alyas Robin Hood” also stars Andrea Torres and 2013 Miss World Megan Young.

Joining them are Cherie Gil, Sid Lucero, Jaclyn Jose, Christopher De Leon (guest role), Paolo Contis, Gary Estrada, Dennis Padilla, Tanya Gomez, Gio Alvarez, Rey “PJ” Abellana.

“Alyas Robin Hood” airs Mondays to Fridays, after “Encantadia” on GMA Telebabad. (NESTOR CUARTERO)
