COMEDY royalty Elizabeth Ramsey marked her first death anniversary last Oct. 8 amid a bitter feud between her two daughters recently.
Susan Ramsey, half-sister of Jaya, has expressed disappointment over the decision of the soul singer to cremate her mother instead of burying her in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
“It was Jaya’s wish to cremate her not my mom’s wish. In her deathbed ‘yon pa rin ang sinasabi ng mama ko na kung ano’ng mangyari sa kanya ilibing siya, huwag siyang i-cremate,” said Susan, in an interview on GMA News.
“How many times na naaabutan ko ang nanay ko na nakatira sa bahay na may mga daga? She lives in a mansion, she can’t even put her mother in a decent house. What kind of daughter is that? She closed her door to her family when she became Jaya,” added Susan, who is reportedly planning to write a book about her late mother.
The remains of Elizabeth would be transferred from Antipolo City to the Ramsey family crypt in San Carlos City on orders of Susan, reports said.
Elizabeth passed away at the age of 83 after suffering from hyperglycemic attack brought about by diabetes.
In a message posted on Instagram, Jaya said that her mother had already forgiven her for “all the wrongs” she had done to her.
“I will always admire, respect, adore, and miss her. She was one of a kind. I will always be proud of her. I will always be sorry for all the wrongs I have done to her. I will always be thankful to God for letting me and Mama have our last deep talk and apologized to one another, we forgave one another,” said Jaya.
“I am thankful to our God for allowing us to be mother and daughter, best friends and colleagues, family, sisters.
Thank God for his amazing grace that He took away all the pains that my mother would have suffered through had she lived another second. And thank God for giving me this unexplainable strength and wisdom to now face this world without my greatest defender,” she added.
When Ramsey passed away in October, Susan hinted at a feud with Jaya who has just transferred to the Kapamilya network.
“I have no message for her, definitely. She continues her life, whatever she wants to do in life but don’t use Ramsey because before you ignored Ramsey. Before mama died, I’m trying to introduce you to a show, ano ang sabi mo sa akin?
‘Oh, hindi na ako Ramsey, Gotidoc na ako eh.’ Really? Now that mama is dead, you’re going to use Ramsey? Okay, come on now. Be for real here,” said Susan, according to a report by ABS-CBN.
Susan added: “Don’t use our mother’s name. You made your name as Jaya, keep it that way. Don’t use mama. Mama has done her life. Mama made her name as Ramsey. Without her, you would never be Jaya. Never.”
Jaya responded and said: “For me, God bless my mom and I hope she’s really resting in God’s heaven kasi wala na, tapos na. Magpa-interview siya, magpa-movie siya, magpa-telenovela siya, wala na ang nanay namin. I hope this is the last of it.”
Parts of Jaya’s IG posts read:
“And so today, Mama, I honor you once again. Thank you for your love. I am comforted knowing that you are with God. I know we will see each other again someday;
“But for now, I hope and pray that whatever I do here will be a testimony to how great you have been as a mother. The past went away and the present and future remains to be seen;”
“I promise to honor you by being a good, God-fearing, loving and helpful child. It won’t be easy, but I will do it.
And don’t worry about me and the kids, maraming nagmamahal sa amin. Ma, I will carry your name for as long as I live, as long as I sing. We all miss you, we all love you. We all thank you…rest in God’s eternal peace,” Jaya said.
