Police have arrested a suspected Malaysian terrorist now affiliated with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in a raid in his safehouse in Quezon City.
Sources identified the suspect as Amin Aklam, reportedly a Malaysian connected with an international terrorist group.
Chief Insp. Roque Merdegia, head of the Anti-Transnational Crime Unit, confirmed the arrest of Aklam but would not give further details. It was learned that Aklam will be presented to the media today, Monday.
Aklam was arrested inside a house at 104 Cotabato Street in Barangay Culiat, Tandang Sora at around 4 a.m. on Saturday.
The arrested suspect, it was learned, has a standing arrest warrant for kidnapping with frustrated murder now pending in a Sulu court. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
