Dog named Amiga is a Frisbee player

untitled-1-copy

A dog named Amiga caught our fancy recently. She’s an award-winning frisbee player. Frisbee is known as a sport that requires agility from its players, and Amiga certainly fits the bill. She amazed all of us in the “Matanglawin” staff and crew.

Trained since she was 2 years old, Amiga is believed to be the first asong Pinoy (aspin) to join dog sports. But then, we found out she is smarter than purebred dogs.

Amiga, who was discovered in Cebu, usually gets food as her reward for a game well played.

Did you know?

That ukulele came from Portugal, and not Hawaii?

The tiny musical instrument was brought to Hawaii during the 19th century, when it was then known as machete.

In Hawaii, it was called ukulele or “jumping flea.” Why flea? Because when the instrument is played, the fingers move fast making them look like jumping flea (pulgas).

A ukulele-themed café can be found in Quezon City. It is called Uke Box Café.

Its owners say their goal is to create a community that will appreciate the beautiful sound of the ukulele.

On Fridays and Saturdays, there’s an open mic session where enthusiasts can play music. They also offer ukulele workshops for beginners.
