The only interesting left in the UAAP basketball tournament’s elimination round is the race for the second twice-to-beat advantage after Adamson completed the Final Four cast last Wednesday.
With three playdates remaining in the elims, the 7-5 Falcons are within striking distance of the streaking Ateneo Blue Eagles and slumping Far Eastern Tamaraws, who are now tied for second place at 7-4 after their match two days ago.
Ateneo won its fourth straight game after beating FEU, 74-59, in a fitting follow-up to last weekend’s stunning 83-71 rout of erstwhile unbeaten La Salle. The result put Ateneo in a tie for second with FEU at 8-4.
FEU’s loss also paved the way for Adamson to gain ground in the race for the twice-to-beat when it posted a 76-61 rout of University of Santo Tomas.
The Falcons, winners of three straight, secured their first Final Four appearance since 2011, and are eager to gain a better seeding with two games left.
