2 p.m. – Olivarez vs CDSL
Centro Escolar University threw the full weight of its vaunted offense and scored another runaway 98-57 win over University of Batangas to clinch a Final 4 slot in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) yesterday at the Olivarez Sports Center.
It was the Scorpions’ eighth consecutive as the consensus title favorites were all business as usual, winning with a double-digit margin in as many matches.
“Hindi namin minamaliit mga kalaban. Kung sino ang makakalaban namin dito, challenge lagi para sa amin,” said CEU’s Jason Opiso, who came through with 18 points and six rebounds.
Lorenz Guinitaran led the way for the Scorpions in a reserve role with 20 points, while Nigerian slotman Ebuka Umeanozie added eight points and four rebounds.
Earlier, Jonjon Gabriel put up a show in the payoff period as Colegio de San Lorenzo repeated over Diliman College, 82-65, in a testy encounter to boost its Final Four bid.
The Griffins survived a physical third quarter that featured four unsportsmanlike fouls and pulled away from a slim 56-53 lead with a 22-5 burst.
