Stricter motorcycle lane starts

The Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) started their dry run on the stricter implementation of the motorcycle lane yesterday.

The dry run will last until today as the actual implementation of the traffic policy will start tomorrow.

Before this new development, the motorcycle lane has long been in implementation phase.

However, many motorcycle riders seemingly disregard the fact that there is already a separate lane for them along major thoroughfares.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Tim Orbos said that aside from implementing the policy they will also be checking on the riders’ side mirrors and helmets.

Orbos meanwhile reiterated that a lot has still to be achieved when it comes to finding the right solution to the traffic mess in the metropolis, among them is the building of infrastracture and stricter implementation of existing policies. (Rizal S. Obanil)

A Scottish missionary while in the Philippines for a speaking engagement had this to say about the traffic in Metro Manila: “While on my way here I have noticed that there are two kinds of people that drive the road to Manila… The quick and the dead”.
