All-indie filmfest this December

MAKE IT BRIEF! – Young people are fond of shortening words.

St. Scholastica College is St. Scho. Its students are Kulasas.

La Consolacion College is Laco. Nearby is Holy Ghost College (now Holy Spirit). Then it was called Holy Mamaw… with fondness.

On the same street, Mendiola, is Centro Escolar University, simply called Centro.

Philippine Science High School is Pisay.

Across Mendiola Bridge (now Chino Roces) is Colegio San Sebastian-Recoletos. Baste for short.

Dasma is the ritzy Dasmariñas Village in Makati and not the Cavite City.

Avenue is simple Av, as in Makati Av, Quezon Av, Ayala Av.

EDSA is, of course, Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.

Sanlo is San Lorenzo Village in uppity Makati.

Quezon City is Kyusi.

NOT ONE BUT THREE – A new actor with a wholesome image has sex videos. Yes, not one but three. Said to be very “impressive.” Big deal.

But even those who’ve watched the sex videos are loathe to spread them around. “Kawawa naman, very promising pa naman. Kapusukan lang ng kabataan.”

MR. & MS. CALAMBA – Alden Richards was Mr. Santa Rosa a few years back. But did he become Mr. Laguna?

Alden comes to mind as Mel Caparas reports the search for Mr. and Ms. Calamba is on. Mayor Justin Marc “Timmy” Chipeco said the winners will represent the city in various beauty tilts, including Ginoo and Bb. Laguna next year.

Named darlings of the press were: John Mart Napa and Janna Jahziel Robles.

Finals night is on Dec. 3 at the Letran gym, directed by Gareth Blanco of Icon 888 Productions.
