A member of the National Printing Office Bids and Awards Committee has said that she resigned from the NPO out of “friendship.”
Jennifer Tomas, member of NPO BAC, revealed that she signed the letter of resignation out of “pakikisama” (friendship) to NPO Deputy Director and BAC Chairperson Sherwin Prose Castañeda.
“I affixed my signature as solicited on the last minute before the closing hours of the same day, not knowing the content thereof,” said Tomas in her letter to NPO Director Francisco Vales Jr. dated November 28, 2016.
Tomas was among the members of BAC who resigned en masse led by Castañeda who cited “too much” pressure as reason.
She added that she had seen and read the resignation letter only after it was officially released at the Records Section.
“Except as to the issue on the procurement reforms being undertaken, with all honesty and humility, I have no more personal knowledge or information on what were alleged/stated in the said resignation letter,” Tomas explained.
Because of this, Tomas requested Vales that she be returned to her mother unit.
Last November 21, 11 career NPO executives sent their letter of resignation. Aside from Castañeda and Tomas, other resigned NPO-BAC members were Ma. Cristina M. Morales, Michelle F. Japson, Benedict Sagun, and Amando Valsorable and BAC Secretariat members Teresa R. Tobias (head), Dina M. Badua, Winona V. Balmores, Wilma Delansig, and Federico Israel D.G. Ramos III.
