‘Nina’ closes 8 major roads

A total of eight road sections were closed to traffic due to the onslaught of Typhoon Nina in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday.

According to the 7 a.m. report of the DPWH, seven of these road closures are implemented in the Bicol Region due to fallen trees and debris.

These include the Daang Maharlika Highway in Naga City. Under the Camarines Sur 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO), the Tigaon-Lagonoy-Caramoan Road, and Pili-Tigaon-Albay Boundary Road were also closed.

The Daang Maharlika Highway along K0460 on Sta. Teresita, Baao is also closed due to fallen trees.

Under the Catanduanes DEO, fallen trees and utility posts prompted the closure of the intermittent section of the Catanduanes Circumferential Road, Juction Bato-Baras Road, baras-Gigmoto-Viga Road, and the Juction Catanduanes Circumferential Road-Panganiban-Sabloyon-Road.

Meanwhile, under the Tacloban City DEO in Eastern Visayas, a portion of the Rizal Avenue Extension is closed to traffic due to an ongoing slope protection project. (Argyll Geducos)
