Bureau of Customs (BoC) intelligence agents confiscated Tuesday millions of pesos worth of high-end electronic gadgets believed to have been smuggled into the country in a raid on a building housing an online shop in Tondo, Manila.
Gadgets like iPhone 7, Macbook laptops, Galaxy cellular phones S7 series, Nexus 6Ps, Zenfone 3 Ultra, Sony Xperia, Canon cameras, tablets and music players, audio accessories, and devices for safety and security were seized in a building on Lakandula Street in Tondo, according to Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Director Neil L. Estrella.
Prior to the raid, the bureau received intelligence reports that an online shop named Kim Store sells imported high-end communication gadgets under suspicious importation schemes.
Estrella said through extensive probes, they were able to locate its depot in Tondo, Manila.
Investigation showed that Kim Store is owned by a certain “Francis”, a Filipino-Chinese businessman in Binondo who is currently engaged in online shopping business that sells alleged smuggled items.
Probers, however, said intelligence reports will be further validated to identify the real owners of Kim Store in the next few days. (Betheena Kae Unite)
