After Miss Bulgaria 2016 donated her blue Sherri Hill evening gown to a Filipino teen, it’s Miss Germany’s turn to leave a souvenir to her Filipino fans after she competed at the 65th Miss Universe beauty pageant at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City last Monday.
Miss Germany Johanna Acs has given away her castle headpiece which was part of her national costume to an exhibit at the College of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila.
The headpiece weighs two-kilogram, reports said.
Acs, who is still in the country enjoying the beaches of Palawan, said that she donated the headpiece as her way of saying thank you to the warm hospitality of the Filipinos.
“It’s just a good gesture because the Philippines has treated us and me so nice so I just wanna say thank you and leave a small part of Germany here in the Philippines,” the German beauty queen said in an interview on ABS-CBN.
The headpiece was given to interior designer Sol Albar who said that item will be featured in an exhibit at the pontifical university.
Albar is an alumna of the UST College of Fine Arts and Design.
Acs, 24, is a student of Textile and Clothing Management whose concern especially lies in improving the textile production conditions in developing countries.
The beauty queen said that her biggest passion in life is traveling. After visiting more than 50 countries, she has seen the positive and negative sides of the world.
While experiencing the negatives, Acs said that she was inspired to change the world, so she established her own charity organization dubbed “Healing Art.”
In 2015, one of the controversies that plagued the Miss Universe pageant was the statement of Miss Universe Germany 2015 Sarah Lorraine Riek who said that she was upset over the results of the beauty contest.
American host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced the Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez won the contest when in fact it was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, a half German beauty queen.
Riek has apologized to the Filipinos for her criticism and has moved on from the gaffe.
