A motorcycle rider died after he accidentally fell from the 20-foot high EDSA-Buendia flyover in Makati City yesterday.
Superintendent Jenny Tecson, public information officer of Southern Police District, identified the fatality as one Ronel Badong, with a temporary driver’s license, a resident of Pier 18, Vitas, Tondo, Manila.
Police report showed that Badong was traversing the northbound lane of Buendia flyover around 10:30 a.m. when he accidentally lost brakes and crashed into a concrete wall.
Due to the impact of the crash, Badong fell was thrown off his motorcycle and fell from the flyover. He fell unconscious after the fall, Tecson said.
The motorcycle, a white-orange, KTM model without plate number, was left on the flyover, Tecson added.
Tecson said a rescue team from Makati City rushed Badong to Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
He died around 12 p.m. due to massive head and body injuries, according to attending physician Dr. Marilou Bonco.
The accident caused heavy traffic on both lanes of the flyover. Normal flow of traffic returned around 10:50 a.m., Tecson said. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
