Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said yesterday that the arrest order issued by the Left-leaning National Democratic Front against former President Benigno S. Aquino III over the violent Kidapawan dispersal last year is illegal and unauthorized.
Lacson said that it is the responsibility of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, as well as all law-abiding citizens of this country, to protect Aquino and all those placed under the liquidation list of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front.
He said the NDF, CPP, and NPA are, by any definition, enemies of the State.
Lacson said there is only one duly constituted authority that can mete out any form of penalty against anybody found violating the laws of the land “and that is a court of law of the Republic of the Philippines.”
“Anybody else is unauthorized and therefore illegal. Hence, they should be made criminally liable if and when they perform such criminal act,” he added. (Mario B. Casayuran)
