Umapela si Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada sa libu-libong devotees na dadagsa sa mga simbahan sa capital city sa Holy Week na maging responsible sa pagtatapon ng kanilang mga basura.
“The observance of Holy Week will be more meaningful if we also show our concern to the environment,” pahayag ni Estrada said.
“The simplest act of refraining from dumping your trash anywhere is a big help,” dadag niya. Ayon sa kaniya, ang Holy Week ay isang magandang pagkakataon para sa mga Pilipino, lalo na sa mga Katoliko, na sundin ang climate-friendly at trash-free practices para sa kapakanan ng kapaligiran.
“Being clean is a sign of spiritual purity. Cleanliness, indeed, is next to godliness,” sabi ni Estrada. Gayunpaman, inatasan ni Estrada ang Task Force Manila Cleanup sa pamumuno ni Che Borromeo na mag-deploy ng cleanup crews na magtatrabaho hanggang Easter Sunday. (Jaimie Rose Aberia)
