Pinoys satisfied with gov’t – SWS

Filipinos’ satisfaction with the work done by top government institutions has remained the same in the first quarter of 2017, the latest Social Weather Stations survey said.

The nationwide survey conducted last March 25 to 28 with 1,200 respondents found out that 50 percent were satisfied, 31 percent were undecided, and 17 percent were dissatisfied with the Duterte administration.

This translates to a net satisfaction rating of “good” +32 (percentage of satisfied minus percentage of dissatisfied), which is unchanged from the fourth quarter of 2016.

SWS terminology for net satisfaction ratings are +70 and above, “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”; +9 to -9 “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; and -70 and below, “execrable.”

Sixty five percent of the respondents were satisfied with the performance of the Senate while 13 percent were dissatisfied. Meanwhile, 21 percent of Filipinos were undecided.

This yields the Senate a +52 net rating from +48 (63 percent satisfied, 15 percent dissatisfied) three months earlier.

The House of Representatives’ net satisfaction score gained three points to +39 (53 percent satisfied, 14 percent dissatisfied) from +36 (52 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied).

Public satisfaction with the Supreme Court was up two points to +40 (56 percent satisfied, 16 percent dissatisfied) from +38 (56 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied). (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
