Olivarez College put on a big second half performance and beat Diliman College, 64-55, to move within a win of completing a first round sweep in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Summer Invitational held Tuesday at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.

Held to just 22 points in the first two quarters, the Sea Lions knocked down 21points each in the last two quarters to complete another impressive come-from-behind win in the annual preseason tournament.

Jayboy Solis and Archie Sunga struck hardest for the Sea Lions, coming through with clutch baskets at crunch time as Olivarez College rolled to its fourth straight win in the 6-team tournament.

They can sweep the first round elims with another win against National University next week.

In other games of the tournament sponsored by Ever Bilena-Blackwater, Smart, Advanced Solution, Inc. and Manila Bulletin, Centro Escolar University defeated Jose Rizal University, 85-71, while National University outlasted College of St. Benilde, 84-75.

Both CEU and NU now have 2-2 records while Diliman and Benilde slipped to 2-1 and 1-3, respectively.

Solis led the Sea Lions with 13 points aside from grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists.

Orlan Wamar buried five triples to lead CEU’s well-balanced attack with 25 points while Mike Pate also had a stellar showing for NU with 21 points spiked by two triples apart tallying six boards and three assists.
