Fifty women from the National Housing Authority relocation site in Naic, Cavite have participated in the plushie-making seminar conducted by the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance.
The participants are former Las Piñas City settlers who were trained to make handmade plush toys and pillows.
Sen. Cynthia Villar, director of Villar SIPAG, said a way to make relocation easier for residents is to introduce livelihood opportunities that they can do at home.
“We want our women to benefit from these training programs so that they can earn without the need to leave their children behind or sacrifice their responsibilities as home maker,” Villar said.
Villar SIPAG partnered with Higos Project, a small enterprise in Naga City that aims to share skills to housewives, unemployed individuals, out of school youth, and organizations who want to invest in new livelihood that does not require big investments.
