Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Año paid tribute to the gallent men of the military, especially the fathers who are currently in Marawi City and other parts of the country battling terrorists and other enemies of the state.
In his message to all soldiers on Father’s Day, Año said the military has the deadliest jobs for fathers as many of them are deployed in areas where there is conflict.
Thousands of soldiers are deployed in Marawi City, Basilan, and Sulu battling the Maute Group, Abu Sayyaf, and other local terrorists who conduct kidnappings, killings, and other atrocities.
Fifty nine soldiers and policemen have been killed since Marawi was attacked by local terrorists some four weeks ago.
“Perhaps nobody can appreciate Father’s Day better than the children of soldiers who understand that every day that their fathers stay alive is a blessing,” Año said.
“Soldiers do secure the lands so that all other fathers in the country may be able to celebrate Father’s Day with their families peacefully.”
“To a gallant soldier as you are, Happy Father’s Day to everyone and God bless you!” Año said.
