A suspected drug personality was killed in a raid in Caloocan City Friday.

Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, Caloocan police chief, identified the suspect as “Jerome Bala.”

Police raided a shanty which was reportedly being used as a drug den on Bontogon St. in Barangay 14 at about 8 p.m.

People inside the shanty fired at approaching policemen but missed. Policemen retaliated and killed Jerome Bala.

Three unidentified friends of Jerome Bala inside the shanty managed to escape.

Recovered in the shanty were two plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a caliber .38 revolver, and drug paraphernalia.

Police said they conducted the raid after receiving information that the shanty was being used as a drug den.

Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District director, said among those arrested were two men – Bryan Angelo Pineda, 34, of Barangay Old Balara and Joseph Vincent Fernandez, 31, of Barangay Batasan Hills.

Pineda was arrested for violating Republic Act 9262 (Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004) while Fernandez faces a drug case.

The two suspects are now under the custody of the QCPD Station 6.

A third suspect was arrested for carrying unlicensed firearms and creating trouble when drunk.
