A WORKER holds two of the drugs used in treating HIV/AIDS patients at the Department of Health (DoH) office in Manila. According to the DoH, stocks of medicines for HIV/AIDS is good for one year. A total of 1,098 new cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was recorded in May this year, the highest number recorded in a month since 1984. Based on the HIV/AIDS Registry of the Philippines, the latest figure was 48 percent higher compared to the same period last year, with 741 cases. (Czar Dancel)
