Labimpito pang centenarians ang nakatanggap ng P100,000 cash gifts mula sa Manila city government.
Nagpahayag ng kasiyahan si Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada nang personal niyang ibigay ang cash gift sa 11 sa 17 centenarians sa isang simple ceremony sa city hall. Ang natirang anim na centenarians ay mahina na ang katawan para personal na tanggapin ang kanilang checks.
“We’re hoping this small amount could help you live your life comfortably, and should be able to help you in your healthcare necessities,” pahayag ni Estrada.
“You are the living legends of Manila. We look up to you as our heroes,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa 17 beneficiaries, pinakamatanda Laurenciano Bohol sa edad na 106, nakatira sa Bgy. 223 in Yuseco Street, Tondo.
Ang 16 pa na centenarian-beneficiaries ay sina Jacoba Bautista, 101; Matilde Capiral, 100; Emilio Chavez, 100; Luz Dela Cruz, 100; Geronima Diaz, 104; Armelia Quizon, 100; Dolores Nalus, 100; Lando Nanding, 102; Cecilia Nubla, 101; Lourdes Perete, 100; Juana Refuerzo, 100; Ester Simbol, 100; Kim Tan, 100; Genoveva Viar, 100; Carmen Yu, 100; at Virginia Zara, 102.
Dahil dito, umabot na sa 42 ang kabuuang bilang ng centenarians na tumanggap ng R100,000 cash gift mula kay Estrada simula nang ipatupad ang programa noong isang taon.
