Storm seen to enter PH today

Another tropical storm with international name “Talim” is expected to enter the country’s area of responsibility today and could cross extreme Northern Luzon this week.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) located the storm at 1,745 kilometers (km) east of Southern Luzon around Sunday noon.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Should it maintain its west-northwest track at 25 kph, PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said Talim will be inside the country’s area of responsibility today and will be given a local name of “Lannie.”

Lannie will be the second tropical cyclone to affect the country this month.

As of Sunday, the cyclone has no direct effect in any part of the country. However, it will move towards the general direction of extreme Northern Luzon or Taiwan area.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance is also likely to further intensify as it continues to draw fuel from the sea. (Ellalyn De Vera-Ruiz)
