Cherie Gil reveals she’s afraid of getting old

Multi-awarded actress Cherie Gil has admitted that she is afraid of getting old as she praised her children who are doing well in their respective fields abroad.

“They are my drive! They are the ones who have proven to me what evolution is all about and becoming better than the past generation,” said Cherie, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS CBN.

“Jay Eigenmann is my eldest, he’s an engineer in New York. I am so proud he is really working very hard;

“And Raphael, he’s six-feet tall. He’s a student at NYU, sophomore, taking up Liberal Studies focusing on Ethics, Religion and Law;

“Bianca is my one and only daughter who’s now taking up drama as a major in London. Who would have thought?;

“But I am blessed with a man who has been a great dad to them and made sure that they are in amazing schools and amazing education,” Cherie said.

For the first time, Cherie faced the Golden Mirror in the late-night talk show.

Asked to describe the girl in the mirror, Cherie laughed and said: “Ang hirap. I will not do this! Ang dami ko ng wrinkles! Dine-describe ko na. Aging.”

When asked if she was afraid of getting old, the actress said: “A little.”

Asked why, Cherie laughed anew and replied: “Cause I’m vain. I don’t wanna go into injections. But I hope my emotions grow as old as my face kasi it doesn’t seem to keep up.”

Sought to give advice to herself, Cherie said: “Forgive yourself.”

Asked to talk to the 18-year-old Cherie then, she said: “You’re so crazy! Girl you’ve got a good job!”

On important lesson in love that was learned, the 52-year-old actress said: “I don’t think I’ve learned yet. I have nothing to say!”

Cherie was also asked to deliver the iconic line from the hit movie “Bituing Walang Ningning” where she played a contravida to megastar Sharon Cuneta.

“You’re nothing but a second-rate, trying hard, copy cat!” said Cherie as the audience applauded.

Cherie also narrated how she got close to actresses Agot Isidro and Mylene Dizon.

“Siguro nag-umpisa yan nung nagkahiwalayan na kaming lahat, nag-attract-an kami, mga lonely hearts kami. So we’ve decided, let’s be travel buddies! That started in Bukidnon where I normally go. That’s my hideaway,” she said.

“Since then they called us the KP Group, the ‘kontrabida’ package! The guide in our adventure trip called us the KP Group.”

Cherie also said that she hopes to teach acting or films in the future.

“As an actor, teach! Maybe one day, I am being led to such scenarios where I am seeing possibilities in that direction;

“I did one acting class for the first time with this amazing young filmmakers headed by J.E. Tiglao. They’re very inspiring and now they’re coming up with a fifth camp in Batanes. I was a teacher last year in acting. And I never felt so fulfilled and inspired like when you share something, you take in more than what you can actually give them because they live with something different,” added Cherie.
