Malacañang has designated Commissioner Prospero de Vera III as officer-in-charge of the Commission on Higher Education to ensure uninterrupted public service.
In a memorandum, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said De Vera would serve as CHED OIC “to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service” upon the orders of President Duterte. His designation takes effect immediately.
The memorandum was signed by Medialdea last Jan. 24.
De Vera takes the place of Chairperson Patricia Licuanan who recently resigned amid reported allegations of frequent travels and mismanagement at CHED.
Licuanan claimed that she was asked by Malacañang to step down from her post six months before her term expires in July.
