Korean found hanging

BATANGAS CITY – A Korean national and general manager of a construction company was found hanging inside his office at the 5th floor of Maptan Building here Wednesday night. Batangas City chief of police Superintendent Sancho Celedio identified the victim as Hyung Dong Kim, 56, from South Korea who was staying at Pontefino Residences, Barangay Pallocan East, this city.

The victim was found hanging from a wall with a cord around his neck when discovered inside his office by his driver, Rommel Lontoc, at around 10:15 p.m. He was declared dead on arrival at the Jesus of Nazareth Hospital here. Initial investigation disclosed that victim was observed by his officemates as being depressed, possibly because of work delays, according to Celedio.

Meanwhile, Rey Nelson Amparo, Public Relations Officer of JG Summit Petrochemicals confirmed that the victim’s company, Ventanas Philippines Construction Inc., is a sub-contractor of JG Summit for the naphtha cracker expansion plant project in Barangay Simlong this city. (Lyka Manalo)
