The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has tagged about 93 government officials in its new drug list.
In yesterday’s press briefing, PDEA Director-General Aaron Aquino said the new list included some congressmen and mayors.
The revelation was made after PDEA released more than a month ago the names of 207 barangay officials suspected to have links to the illegal drug trade.
Aquino said the new drug list included six or seven congressmen, about 60 mayors, vice-mayors, and military and police officers.
He added that the narco-list also included 17 other elected officials and a handful of PDEA personnel.
“Majority of those in the list are incumbent officials, some of whom are from Calabarzon, Northern Mindanao and ARMM,’’ Aquino said.
Aquino have yet to release the names of the said officials as the agency is still building up cases against them.
In April, PDEA released the names of the barangay officials with alleged links to the illegal drug trade.
However, around 60 officials in the narco list won in the May 14 barangay polls.
